2016 Favourites

Hi lovelies,

Can I be the first to say it? 2016 was a bitch. Regardless of that, there are some standout products that I have been loving throughout the year. Some have been released in 2016, whereas others I have just discovered this year – regardless, I would love to share!

Best Foundation

Diorskin Forever Perfect Makeup Foundation Broad Spectrum 35 – pricey foundation, but leaves a beautiful natural, medium-coverage finish that lasts all day (added bonus, theres already SPF in it, which makes your morning routine that much easier)

Best Bronzer

Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer Murumuru in Light – since I’ve purchased this, I cannot put it down. It’s the perfect satin matte bronzer, that leaves a subtle, natural glow (it also smells like pina colada, which brings me back to summer paradise every time I open it)

Honorable Mention: Too Faced Sweethearts Bronzer in Sweet Tea – whereas the Physician’s Formula was matte, this bronzer definitely does have a luminous finish, therefore, I reserve it for summer. When I’m sunkissed, this bronzer adds an extra kick to my complexion.

Best Blusher

Clinique Cheek Pop in Nude Pop – The perfect natural flush of colour for my skin tone – especially in the summer.

Best Highlight

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in That Glow – absolutely gorgeous! I love the variety too. I especially love mixing bubbly and sunburst.

Best Fragrance

Winter perfume Thierry Mugler Angel – this fragrance is definitely not for everyone. I love it though because it is so warm and cozy. Once it settles on the skin, it’s a truly exceptional scent, perfect for the colder months.

Summer perfume – Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb – I’m clearly behind on the bandwagon here but THIS SCENT IS OUTSTANDING. Sweet, floral, sexy.

Best Moisturizer

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel – I have combination skin. Can be incredibly dry, yet gets oily throughout the day and I suffer from semi-frequent breakouts. This moisturizer is perfect. Hydrates my skin enough that I don’t suffer from dry patches, yet not too much that I will become extra-oily. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin or clog pores. I have tried many high-end moisturizers (First Aid Beauty, Origins, Murad, etc), yet nothing holds a candle to this. This is probably my standout product of the year – and it smells beautiful!

I have a few must-haves on my skincare list. In Autumn and Winter, I’m all about the slaying eye makeup and vampy lipstick. However, come Spring and Summer (Spring is quickly approaching here in Alberta), I focus a lot more on a glowy base and healthy skin. I want to look luminous on days where I just put a tad bit of mascara on.

As I’m sure you all know, GLAMGLOW is expensive. I have tried a couple of products from the company and would like to share my experience with them.

FLASHMUD Brightening Treatment: I was lusting over this product for months. I love having glowing skin (who doesn’t?) and I struggle with little red scars from my bout of middle school acne years ago. I finally got my hands on it. At first, it’s a beautiful exfoliator and then you leave it on as a mask. Honestly, it didn’t wow me unfortunately. I had high hopes for this mask, and while it was good, I don’t feel it was worth the $80 price tag.

THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Treatment: I just have this mask in a little travel size so I can apply it on my dry spots throughout the winter. I love this mask. It’s thick and it smells like a beach vacation. I keep in on overnight and my skin is smooth and the flakes are gone come morning.

YOUTHMUD Tinglexfoliating Treatment: This mask was good! It was certainly tingly, which made for a fun spa treatment feel. I would wear this in the bath. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on how it worked for anti-aging.

SUPER CLEANSE Daily Clearing Cleanser: This cleanser is so good! It’s expensive, but it lasts me a long time. Unfortunately, it’s black and makes a mess of my sink. However, after I’ve had a long week and my pores feel clogged, I’ll apply this to dry skin, let it sit for five minutes and then give my skin a good wash. I can feel my pores clearing by the minute. Good news, it doesn’t dry out my already dehydrated skin.

I’m always in the market for a good mask. What are your mask and skincare favourites? xx
